Chelsea McCallum APD

Hi there, my name is Chelsea and it's a pleasure to meet you!

I am an Accredited Practising Dietitian, Nutritionist, and Recipe Developer. I have years of clinical experience as a dietitian and I am highly skilled in working with adolescents and adults. Since finishing a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, I have further developed my knowledge in Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), the gut microbiome, and gut health attending several workshops and courses within Australia and internationally in the UK. I specialises in IBS and the low FODMAP diet.

My Journey with IBS

It's never comfortable talking about embarrassing symptoms like bloating, constipation, and diarrhoea. I hope that by sharing my story, I can inspire you to seek help for yourself and find freedom from IBS too!

For me, it all started in my third year of full-time study at university. The pressure was on. Nutritional biochemistry, pathophysiology, and medical nutrition therapy were among the courses and the content was full-on. Never I had imagined that I needed to do so much science to become a Dietitian. I was stressed out to the max trying to balance study, work, relationships, and social life.

I had it all... it started with gas, then bloating, constipation and phases of diarrhoea too. I was stressed, anxious, eating poorly, not exercising, and sleeping the bare minimum. This was my new normal.

For the rest of my degree and even through the job application process, I was having flares of symptoms and I knew I had to take control. I spoke with my GP and we had done all of the appropriate investigations. Until we came to the conclusion. I had IBS.

Fast forward to now. I still have IBS, it's not a condition that has a cure. But, I confidently manage my symptoms. I no longer skip social occasions, I have a loving, supportive partner and I am excelling in my career. And you can too.
